Mahout Joe, the owner of the Thai Elephant Home, with his son Oshi.
Thai Elephant Home is located about 45 minutes north of Chiang Mai, in the Maetang River valley.
The environment at the Thai Elephant Home is very family oriented. The four mohouts eat with Joe and his family. The food was all home cooked delicious Thai .... with rice at every meal.
The large thatched building where I stayed, had windows that looked out over the elephant barn ... so I was close to Pak Boon, even at night!
Mosquito net over the bed kept me safe all night long...
Nice bathroom, with hot and cold running water.
