Conversational role plays ... the meat and potatoes of my teaching.

To help the students learn how to guide a visitor from another country around SOS Village, I wrote on the white board a role play which the students copied into their notebooks.

We spent a lot of time practicing the role play in front of the class.

The pronunciation of some words, proved difficult (here and hair for example, or thirteen and thirty), so I spent time with the whole class on these words.

The students come from all parts of Bali, so Balinese is their first language, Indonesian their second language, they may even have a third language, so English is relatively new for them ... even though they do study it in public school.

Practices does make perfect however!
